Summer Works Scheme 2015

A grant was approved under the Summer Works Scheme 2014/2015 for the installation of new windows and doors. €29,652 inclusive of VAT and Fees was approved for this project.

The Board of Management conducted a tendering process in line with Guidance on Procuring Consultants for Small Works – Projects with Capital Value of €1 million or less (March 2014). Michael Hennessy (Advanced Planning and Design Services) was appointed as the consultant to oversee the works.

Advanced Planning and Design Services conducted a tender process for a company to make and install the new windows and doors. McGuinness and Sons were deemed the most economically advantageous tenderer. They were appointed when after they submitted independent certification on their products to demonstrate compliance with the Department of Education’s specifications. The DoE standards required 2 No 4mm panes of glass with a 20mm cavity filled with Argon Gas.

Works were completed and overseen by Advanced Planning and Design Services during summer Hallowe’en 2015. Finances for the project were drawn down in line with the DoE’s guidance as follows:

• First instalment of 70% - once works have commenced on site
• Second and final instalment of 30% - Certificate of Substantial Completion required
