Summer Works 2017

The Board of Management applied to the Department of Education to upgrade the school heating system and corroded pipework under the Summer Works Scheme 2016/2017.

Scoil Mhuire Naofa was approved a Mechanical Upgrade under the Summer Works Scheme in May 2017. The tendering process was commenced by the BoM with T5 Partnership Ltd. appointed as the Project Supervisor Design Process and Health & Safety Coordinator. The point of contact was Stephen Kelly with the contract between the BoM and T5 Partnership signed on 03 July 2017.

T5 Partnership then commenced the tendering process to appoint a suitable contractor. Phoenix Mechanical were appointed by T5 Partnership with works due to commence ASAP. The point of contact with Phoenix Mechanical was Gary Brennan. Control Tech Ltd. carried out the works during the summer months. The works carried out included:

• Installation of new LPHW pipework and insulation within the boiler house
• Installation of control valves and remote stats
• Installation of new loss header
• Installation of new boiler and hot water heater
• Installation of new LPHW circulating pumps, exp vessel, auto-filler unit etc.
• Installation of new flues and flue liner
• Associated electrical works for the completed installation
• Removal and disposal of existing pumps and controls
• Removal and disposal of existing LPHW and water services pipework
• New BMS controls
• Associated building works for the completed installation including opes, new partition walls, fire stopping, secure storage, protection of existing flooring, painting, decorating and cleaning etc.

All works were completed before school opened for new term in September 2017. The total cost of the project was €131,634.
