Olympic Rower Ross Corrigan Visits Our School

On February 23rd, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special visitor to our school. Irish Olympic rower Ross Corrigan visited as part of the Dare To Believe Olympic Programme, a surprise arranged by Ms. Gaffey.

Ross, a native of Fermanagh, competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Alongside his rowing partner, Nathan Timoney, Ross reached the Olympic Final in the Coxless Pair category. He also won bronze at the 2023 World Rowing Championships, held from September 3–10 in Belgrade, Serbia.

During his visit, Ross spent time with Ms. Gaffey’s class before presenting to Ms. Brennan’s 5th class and Ms. Bohan’s 6th class together in the General Purpose (G.P.) Room. His presentation captivated all our pupils, and he generously answered every question. His key message to both students and adults was to always try your best and to take pride in your efforts. While an Olympic rower himself, Ross promoted all forms of sport and exercise, from dancing and running to soccer and GAA.

The Dare To Believe programme brings the Olympics into classrooms, inspiring students to believe in themselves through an Olympic Values curriculum. Launched in 2019, the programme now reaches hundreds of thousands of students across thousands of schools. Funded by the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) and Allianz, it provides modules and lessons that teach values like excellence, respect, and healthy mind, body, and society.

We wish Ross Corrigan and his fellow athletes the very best as they continue their training for national and international competitions.
