We had a blast during SCIENCE WEEK!!! Our classroom was transformed into a labatory where we became scientists for the week, acting like curious detectives, exploring and experimenting.
We learned about all the different types of scientists there are and the things they explore. We never expected there to be so many different types!
When we grow up, some of us would like to be:
- marine biologists, focusing on features that live in water
- paleontologists, studying fossils of plants and animals and learning about creatures that existed in the past like dinosaurs
- archaeologists, digging into the past and studying human made artefacts to learn about ancient cultures and how people lived in the past
- astronomers, studying space
- zoologists, studying how animals eat and live
During science week, we worked as scientists in small groups to conduct some hands-on experiments. π§ͺπ©πΌπ¬π¨πΌπ¬
We demonstrated for the rest of the class, listing all the materials/equipment needed and explaining step-by-step how to carry out the experiments using lots of bossy verbs!! Some of the experiments included lava lamps, magnetic balloons demonstrating static electricity, fireworks in a glass showing dissolving liquids, making rainbow colours using a cd, using droppers to add paint to cooking oil to create small round bubbles of paint that sit on the oil and do not combine, skittles rainbow, baking soda and vinegar volcanos, mentos and diet coke geyser and other experiments that triggered an eruption!
Teacher was very proud of all the children and how organised they were, gathering all the materials and equipment needed for their experiments, working as a team and sharing the responsibility and also for their excellent demonstrations. Well done 2nd and 3rd Class on making science week an explosion of fun!ππππππ™
