School Improvements - New Fencing

22nd Apr 2026

The school has recently completed the installation of new perimeter and safety fencing in two key areas of the campus, following the collapse of the previous wooden fencing during Storm Éowyn.

At the bottom of the set-down area, a 2.4-metre-high green mesh fence has been erected. The taller barrier replaces the damaged timber fencing and is designed to provide a clearer separation between school garden and the set-down wall. The taller fencing was installed to reduce instances of footballs entering the garden at break time.

In light of the storm damage, the Board of Management made the decision to increase investment in more durable materials, selecting green mesh fencing due to its significantly greater lifespan and improved resistance to weathering. The installation also maintains visibility for supervision while strengthening overall safety.

In a separate improvement, a 1.2-metre-high green spectator-style fence has been installed between the school garden and main building. This lower fencing replaces the previous wooden structure that was also damaged in the storm. It defines the garden boundary while preserving an open and welcoming atmosphere, supporting its continued use as a shared space for students, staff, and visitors. It will also form part of our upcoming CLÁR Sensory Garden Project.

Both installations use a consistent green finish, chosen to blend with the surrounding landscaping and maintain a cohesive visual appearance with the other fencing on school grounds.

The upgrades are prioritising durability for the future, safety, and long-term value for the school community.
