Confirmation for 6th class took place on Saturday, 21st March 2026. As ever, our school choir put in a busy few weeks in preparation for the Sacrament. We have a proud tradition in Scoil Mhuire Naofa of the 2nd to 5th class pupils singing at Confirmation. Paula Kiernan helped to get the choir up and running in February. Paula is incredibly good to our school, helping with music for the sacraments every year.
This year, Mairín O’Keefe took the choir and 6th class trad group, as Paula had a family event. Mairín put the choir through their paces two evenings each week from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. During the week of Confirmation, we had rehearsals in the church, with and without the 6th class pupils from Scoil Mhuire Naofa, Drumeela NS, and Drumlea NS. For the first time, we had the church organ to accompany the choir. This was a lovely addition to the ceremony.
The choir and 6th class trad group enjoyed a trip to Morning Glory for hot chocolate as their reward for singing. There was even room for some chocolate chip cookies and crisps on the day.
The choir are currently busy preparing for their next performance where children from 3rd - 6th will sing to enrich the ceremony for their friends receiving their First Holy Communion on Saturday the 16th of May. We really appreciate the children giving up their Saturday morning to help make their friends' day extra special and to celebrate with them. Thank you to their parents for encouraging them to take part in the choir and facilitating their presence at the ceremony.
