Emergency Works 2019

An Emergency Works Application was lodged with the Department of Education in November 2018. The purpose of this application was to seek funding for the following:

  • Asbestos Survey
  • Removal and safe disposal of the existing classroom flooring in classroom 3
  • Installation of new Marmoleum flooring
  • Removal and replacement of tiles in bathroom areas in classroom 3
  • Removal of existing classroom sink and unit
  • Installation of new classroom sink and storage units
  • New pipework and water turn off installed for the new sink in classroom 3

The Emergency Works Application was approved by the Department of Education. The Board of Management commenced the tendering process to appoint the required consultancy services for the removal of the flooring in Room 3 and replacement of the affected area with Marmoleum Safety Flooring. Michael Hennessy (Advanced Planning and Design Services) was appointed the Project Lead and Assigned Certifier.

Michael Hennessy commenced the tendering process to appoint a builder for the works outlined above. Padraig Bohan (Mohill) was appointed in July 2019. Works started later in July 2019 and were completed before the school reopened in late August 2019.

The overall total for the project was €8070.
