Our focus in SESE this past month has been The Great Famine and Emigration in Ireland in the 1800s.
We decided to research and create projects to truly understand the causes and effects of the famine. We explored areas like potato blight, land league, soup kitchens, Black ‘47, workhouses, coffin ships and destinations the Irish reached across the world during this time.
Everyone learned of this great tragedy in Ireland and that it was widespread throughout the country. They created posters and presented their work to the class.
